You may
think of massage as a luxury to indulge in on occasion. But one of the most
beneficial times for massage may be during pregnancy.
What is
Pregnancy Massage?
Pregnancy
massage refers to hands-on massage during or after pregnancy. A
pregnancy massage typically lasts an hour. Some practitioners use a pregnancy
massage table that is designed to accommodate a woman's pregnant belly. Aesthetic
Beauty & Massage use specially designed pillows called bolsters to position
our pregnant client comfortably on her side. |

Not all wax is created equal!
Allow me to explain the difference between hot wax and strip wax.
Hot wax
When
it comes to hair removal,
in our view the longer it's gone the better. That's why we're major fans of waxing. It's one of the
easiest and longer lasting ways to remove hair and keep it away.
Better still, the more you waxthe less hair regrowth
you will have. Sounds good right?
Hot wax is fast becoming a salon favourite and more often than not
this is what's on offer when you have a bikini wax. |

Swedish Massage - For pure relaxation and stress management. Swedish Massage is the basic relaxation technique named after the Swedish
physiologist and gymnastics instructor who devised the strokes. It incorporates long, smooth, flowing
strokes to promote general relaxation. Due
to the style of this massage, the strokes target the superficial musculature
mainly.
This style of massage could be seen as the corner stone upon which the industry
of Remedial Massage was built, because this is the basic style of massage from
which most (if not all) other techniques were based. |

This week I wanted to share the relationship
that massage has with muscle health.
Muscle strain, muscle pull or even a muscle tear implies damage to a muscle or
its attaching tendons. You can put undue pressure on muscles during the course
of normal daily activities, with sudden heavy lifting, during sports, or while
performing work tasks.
Muscle damage can be in the form of tearing (part or all) of the muscle fibres
and the tendons attached to the muscle. The tearing of the muscle can also
damage small blood vessels, causing local bleeding (bruising) and pain (caused
by irritation of the nerve endings in the area). |

Happy New Year to my clients and readers! I have chosen this topic
for the blog as I have had quite a few discussions with clients lately in
regards to their exercise habits that they have increased in the New Year.
You may have heard of DOMS or ‘delayed onset muscle soreness’. It is a
particular type of muscle soreness that sets in a day after exercise. The
exercise is usually very hard or far more than the individual would normally be
accustomed to.
In
particular eccentric
muscular contractions (where the muscle
lengthens as it contracts) such as in hopping, bounding and other exercise, running downhill, squatting and the lowering phase when lifting
weights, can cause DOMS. |
